Stripe Connect — Getting Started with Payments

Available for Professional plans and above

Before you can accept any payment — whether through products, donations, or event bookings — you must connect your Stripe account. This is the first step in the payment setup flow.

Why Stripe Connect?

FastLinkIt uses Stripe Connect with the Express account model. This means:

• Money goes directly to your Stripe account — FastLinkIt never holds your funds
• You get your own Stripe dashboard to view payouts and manage your account
• FastLinkIt takes a small platform fee on each transaction (configured by the platform admin)
• Stripe handles all PCI compliance, card processing, and security

Setup Flow

1. Go to Money → Stripe Connect in the sidebar
2. Click Connect with Stripe
3. You'll be redirected to Stripe's onboarding page where you:
   • Provide your business details (individual or company)
   • Add your bank account for payouts
   • Verify your identity
4. Once complete, you're redirected back to FastLinkIt

Account Status

After connecting, the page shows your account status:

Two key flags:

• Charges Enabled — you can accept payments from customers
• Payouts Enabled — Stripe can send money to your bank account

Both must be enabled before you can process payments.

Platform Fees

On each transaction, FastLinkIt charges a platform fee:

• A percentage of the transaction amount (e.g., 1%)
• Plus a fixed fee in pence/cents (e.g., 20p)

For example, on a £10.00 payment with 1% + 20p fee:

• Platform fee = £0.10 + £0.20 = £0.30
• You receive = £10.00 - £0.30 = £9.70 (minus Stripe's own processing fee)

The fee rates are set by the platform admin and visible on the Stripe Connect page.

Stripe Dashboard

Once connected, click Go to Stripe Dashboard to access your Express dashboard where you can:

• View all payments and payouts
• Check your balance
• Update your bank account details
• View tax documents

Once Stripe is connected, you can:

1. Create Products to sell
2. Launch Fundraising Campaigns to collect donations
3. Accept payments for Event Bookings
4. View all activity on the Transactions page
